The Tourney Edition

I’ve got sports on the brain. Sure, I love computers and vintage video games, but when it comes to real-live sports ball, I root for the Portland Trail Blazers. My family goes to their games every chance we get. My Rip City love is relevant to the fact that I’ve just added 14 new tournament bracket templates to PrintableTournamentBrackets.net, my site that since 2008 has offered free brackets and grids for everything from coaching kids’ leagues to following college and professional teams.

Tournament Brackets

With the newest additions, there are now nearly 200 tournament brackets and betting grids at PrintableTournamentBrackets.net. With the Super Bowl and NCAA March Madness coming up, I expect lots of visits to this site.

The Super Bowl grids and NFL playoff brackets are ideal for casual office pools, and the fantasy football forms are a fun diversion as well. There are grids with 25, 50, and 100 squares for all kinds of wagering situations (where legal, folks!).

I’ve added a set of team and blind-draw triple elimination brackets to the site, complementing the single and double elimination bracket collections. There are versions with room for as many as 64 teams.

PrintableTournamentBrackets.net also has “round robin” groupings for varying numbers of teams. I’ve even added Pinewood Derby brackets for scouting events.

Coaches, organizers, and players of specific sports and activities can make good use of these handy brackets, some of which are illustrated with icons. They’ll work for baseball, cornhole, chess… anything that uses a bracket system to track participants or teams.

Everything at PrintableTournamentBrackets.net is free to print in either PDF or editable DOC format (so you can type in team names and stats before printing).

Obituary Templates

I’ve just added even more resources to my site ObituaryHelp.net.

I started the site five years ago with dozens of sample obituaries intended to make it easier to write poignantly about someone’s life as well as share details about funeral or memorial services.

ObituaryHelp.net has since expanded its collection of templates to include programs and invitations for funerals, memorials, and other services.

The newest additions to the site include variations on death notice templates (typically shorter and less personal than obituaries).

There’s a new category for eulogies, including: for a colleague, for a parent, for a sibling, and for a pet. You’ll also find a fill-in-the-blanks eulogy and a very formal eulogy.

The site has several articles with tips on how to structure an obituary for publication, find the right words, frame difficult details, and so on. The newest articles cover the writing and giving of eulogies, the sending of thank you notes, and the attending of funerals.

Free for personal use, most of the obituary templates can be downloaded in editable DOC (Microsoft Word) format. Or, just cut and paste the text directly from the site. The funeral programs and invitations are editable DOC files.

As expected, there are a ton of downloads of the 2019 calendars this week. A fan, Steve P., wrote in recently: “This is just a thank you. For several years I have used your printable calendars. I print one for myself and one for my wife. We use them as reminders of coming events."

Popular Printables

This week, I decided to take a look at which of the 328 family trees, ancestry charts, and genealogy research forms at FamilyTreeTemplates.net are being downloaded the most.

In the top spot is a blank family tree with a tree graphic in the background. It’s followed by ancestry charts with room for seven and 10 generations along with vital statistics. A 12-generation tree, which is the farthest back at the site, is also in the Top 20.

Also popular are an extended family tree and an hourglass-shaped tree. For the first time, one of the large-format family trees, which print at 24-by-36-inch poster size, is in the Top 20.

The most-downloaded genealogy forms and charts are: a research checklist, family unit history, and an ancestor sheet.

Download any item at FamilyTreeTemplates.net free in PDF format to print out and write on in pen or pencil. Most designs also have a $4 DOC version that can be typed into using Microsoft Word.
