I woke this morning to snow, beautiful snow! My cats
were making cute paw prints in it, my daughter was sledding in it, and as I write this, my favorite city is still lightly blanketed with it. I love Portland!
I want to start out the year by reminding you about my free 2016 calendars as well as the nifty five- and 10-year
journals I have at PrintablePlanners.net. These journals are the ones in which you can write a few lines each day of the year. This style of diary is a great way to look back on years past and see what was going on in your business or personal life on a particular date. As for the 2016 calendars, there are full-page printables for each month of the year as well as year-on-one-page versions and specialty calendars such as large print, wallet-size, and colorful.
This week, I added new monologues to InstantMonologues.com, and there’s an expanded selection of character references at CharacterReferenceLetters.com. | |

Are you an actor hoping to secure a great role in 2016? Maybe you’re into community theater, or otherwise enjoy being on stage. If so, you’ll want to check out the free, royalty-free monologues at InstantMonologues.com.
I just added 27 new monologues to the site, and they include comedic and serio-comedic as well as dramatic monologues for men and women as well as monologues for children and teens.
There’s a monologue about a romantic break-up, one about a house cat’s inner thoughts, one about a haunting, one about insomnia, one about a teen’s “summer ennui,” one about human selfishness, and a diatribe against technology. Some of the monologues are deep and intense; others are more light-hearted. These are all original to InstantMonologues.com; you won’t find them anywhere else.
These new
additions complement the collection of classic monologues at InstantMonologues.com, which include scenes from works by Sophocles, Moliere, Euripides, and others.
Most of the monologues are short, in the one- to
six-minute range or less, making them perfect for auditions or brief performances. They are all formatted in the style of the scripts used by professionals.
All of the monologues download instantly for free in PDF or DOC format. There are now more than 150 monologues at InstantMonologues.com.

Need someone to vouch for you? Or do you need to vouch for someone else? You’ll find lots of sample letters at CharacterReferenceLetters.com. I’ve just added 25 new character reference letters to the site, plus articles with tips on writing letters that recommend or otherwise say things in favor of another person for professional or personal reasons. There are now 139 letter templates at the site.
These sample letters are intended to be used as a starting point to craft your own letter, with wording to suit your specific situation. But you’re
welcome to use them as-is, too. They’re free and download instantly in DOC format that you can edit in Microsoft Word, or simply cut and paste the text from the site.
The new employment-related letters at CharacterReferenceLetters.com cover references for cleaners, dentists, social workers, substitute teachers, and for one’s boss.
There are also new letters for court-related situations where character may be an issue; some relate to drug charges or parole. There’s even a letter for when one feels compelled to withdraw an earlier reference.
Also new to the site are testimonials. There are letters praising a doctor, a dog-sitter, a lawyer, a nanny, and
a restaurant. There are a few new basic and brief letters.
I’ve also added an article to CharacterReferenceLetters.com explaining the distinction between character reference and recommendation letters, plus advice on how to withdraw a reference. Another article has specific tips on writing an immigration-related reference
letter.
Please send me your ideas for new printables in 2016 and beyond. Thanks and happy printing!
