Card Carrying Edition

I wrote a couple weeks ago about my first-grader's science fair project. Several people emailed asking what flour made the best cookies. I was silly to talk about the science fair project without sharing the results. Sorry! The most popular was plain ol' all-purpose white flour. Whole-wheat pastry flour came in second place. Also very popular, tied for third place, were brown rice flour and oat flour. (Third place sounds bad, but they weren't! The brown rice flour might have been my personal favorite, actually, and it's a great alternative if you want a tasty, crisp cookie that's gluten-free and a little different from the norm.) In last place was coconut flour, which produced gritty cookies that were shaped more like stones than cookies. So there you have it, first-grade science! The end results: cookies are yummy.

This week, I added 40 new business cards to FreePrintableBusinessCards.net, as well as 25 new borders at PageBorders.net. Check 'em out!

Business Cards

FreePrintableBusinessCards.net was one of my very first FreePrintable.net sites, launched way back in 2005 with just a few card designs. Now, with the 40 most recent additions, the site has a whopping 1,296 business cards formatted for Microsoft Word. However, the most popular templates on the site don't require Word at all. They're the QR code business cards and the photo business cards. Users tell me they like the ability to instantly generate a card with a printable code that, when scanned, pulls up information they chose. And the photo card is popular with anyone from real estate agents to models and anyone else who wants their card to display their picture, or a picture of their pet, child, house, and so on. The cards are generated as PDFs that you can download and print.

The newest business cards include abstract designs as well as cards that are illustrated to represent specific industries. Cards feature: a bed, a bus, a businessman, a butcher, a car wash, concrete, a dancer, painted fingernails, an airplane, a shopping cart, a soldier, a spine, and a limousine.

You'll also find a new skyscraper card, cards with bricks, the Canadian flag, cakes and cupcakes, CDs and DVDs, a Celtic cross, a computer network, cathedrals, fir trees, colorful fireworks, gears, a grasshopper, a ship in a bottle, the Statue of Liberty, and steaks, as well as a couple high-fiving each other.

Everything at FreePrintableBusinessCards.net is organized into categories ranging from technology to sports to religion and even square business cards, business cards for kids, and save the date cards for weddings and events.

The cards are free to download and print with the site URL embedded in the bottom of each card. However, with the exception of the QR code and photo cards, that URL becomes removable if you opt for the $3 premium DOC version.

New Page Borders

PageBorders.net now includes 25 new printable borders, most of them brightly illustrated with fun images and patterns. There's now a total of 350 designs that can be downloaded and printed in a variety of formats.

There are new page borders with images of musical instruments, as well as borders with rainbows, flowers, mushrooms, and cute animals. There's a border featuring writing tools, and several geometric borders.

The site also has formal page borders, designs for kids, holiday borders, sports designs, and dog borders with a variety of breeds represented.

There are lots of uses for these borders, including as stationery, flyers, certificates, and frames.

All of the borders at PrintableBorders.net are free to download and print in four different formats: DOC (for Microsoft Word and other compatible programs), PDF, PNG, and JPG image. If you'd like the ability to alter the actual design, many of the borders are available in Adobe Illustrator (AI) format for $7 each.

Please email me with your ideas for new printables. I really appreciate it. Thanks and happy printing!
