Write Stuff Edition

With summer winding down, I've got school on the brain. With one daughter in high school and the other just starting grade school, my mind is all over the place with ideas for additions to TeachersPrintables.net, PrintablePaper.net, PrintableFlashCards.net , InstantWorksheets.net, and my other sites that are great for kids, teachers, and parents. I'd love to hear what you'd like to see next at those sites, as well as the other 80-plus FreePrintable.net sites.

I've just added 40 new business cards to FreePrintableBusinessCards.net, in a wide range of themes. Plus, there's a selection of new writing prompts up at FreeWritingPrompts.net.

New Business Cards

Every time I add to FreePrintableBusinessCards.net, I get excited thinking about how much the site has grown since I launched it nearly nine years ago, in 2005. There are now 1,171 cards in all types of categories, and last week alone more than 1,300 people downloaded a card from the site.

The newest business cards include abstract designs and metal texture as well as industry-specific cards in themes such as: acting, acupuncture, teaching, typing, writing, and yoga. There are also new cards featuring objects: an airplane, shoes, a messenger bag, pets, pills, poison (have fun with that one), a sunflower, sushi (yum!), tropical fish and water jugs. Most are full-color; some are black-and-white.

I've also added more cards featuring city skylines, because that style of card is proving especially popular. The newest cities depicted are: Atlanta, Boston, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and San Diego.

The hundreds of cards at FreePrintableBusinessCards.net are organized into categories, and run the gamut from corporate business cards to cute cards for kids.

You can download and print any card design you'd like for free. The cards are in DOC (Microsoft Word) format, and include the FreePrintableBusinessCards.net URL on the bottom. If you'd like to edit out that URL, opt for the premium version for just $1.99 per design. Any card can be printed instantly on regular cardstock or perforated business card stock that's produced by Avery and other companies.

Free Writing Prompts

If you're a teacher, homeschooling parent, student, or just want to practice writing creatively, you'll want to check out the new additions to FreeWritingPrompts.net. They're organized by topic and education level (elementary, middle, and high school as well as college and "adult journal.") The prompts provide a starting-point for writing exercises ranging from "how to" essays for kids to persuasive writing at the college level.

The newest inspiring prompts include personal journal prompts for all levels, creative writing story starters and enders and word association exercises. For example: "Choose one of the following words as the basis for a short story: 'harmony, disfigurement, squalid, segregate, frame, remember, load.'" Or, as a middle school-level story starter: "Begin a story with the following sentence: 'Jenny is keeping a goldfish under her bed, but we're not talking about it.'"

Everything at the site is free to download, customize, and print. Now, the site has 89 sets of prompts from which to choose. They download in either PDF or DOC form (the latter opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and other compatible programs.)

Thanks for sending me your ideas for new printables! I got so many emails from FreePrintable.net users last week. Keep 'em coming, and happy printing!
