I've always been sort of fascinated with 3D things: When I was a kid, I'd ask my dad to take me to every 3D movie that came out in the theaters (which was a rather rare thing then; it seems like every movie is in 3D now.) And while I wasn't a comic book collector, I did have a few 3D comic books. I'd sit at my desk wearing the red-and-cyan cardboard glasses, and try to make my own 3D drawings. It worked, sometimes. As an older kid, I got into photography, and there's a whole realm of fun 3D possibilities there. I even have an app on my phone that creates three-dimensional pictures. Look at the picture below (choose "always show pictures from kevin@freeprintable.net" if you need to) to see a jittery photo with a 3D effect that I took with that app, no glasses required.
So that's why I'm particularly excited about some of this week's new additions at PrintablePaper.net: 3-D graph paper. I know full well that this is weird and hardly anyone will be as excited by this as me. Sorry! But it's cool! If you print out a page of the 3D paper (there are several versions, but I like this one best), be sure to print it in color and wear a pair of 3D glasses (the red-cyan anaglyph kind), and whatever you draw on the paper will appear to float above the paper! It's like your drawing hovers a few inches above the surface of the paper.
There's a bunch of other new stuff this week, including checklists, perpetual calendars, 20 new resume templates, and 30 new curriculum vitae templates, but none of those are in 3-D :(

Resumes & CV Templates
|
I've added another batch of variations to both InstantResumeTemplates.com and CVTemplates.net
. I hear from quite a few grateful job seekers who appreciate these ready-to-customize resumes and curriculum vitae templates. They're so easy to download, alter with your own information, and print. The resumes are typically used by people looking for new jobs or who want to move up to a better position in their current company. The CV templates are most common in Europe and academic settings, but in most cases they're essentially the same concept as a resume. The 20 new resume templates
at InstantResumeTemplates.com include both classic and, for the more creative industries, colorful designs. A few are industry-specific, such as resumes especially for actors (there's room for a head shot). There's a template designed for a career change, an internal promotion and lateral transfer resumes, and a resume for someone in military service transitioning to a civilian role. I've also added a resume to be used by a student seeking a scholarship.Another new variation is the e-friendly resumes that are very basic and shouldn't lose their formatting when scanned at a human resources department or pasted directly into an email.
At CVTemplates.net, you'll find 30 new designs, most of them specific to certain jobs, academic roles, or pursuits. There are new templates for: artists, auditors, journalists, and librarians. I've included a template for law school students as well as one for a Ph.D-holder.Also, you'll find CV templates especially formatted for those seeking board member positions, internships, or travel or work visas. There are e-friendly versions in both letter and A4 size, too.All of the resumes and CV templates are free to download, customize, and print. They're in DOC format and should work with any DOC-compatible word processing program.

New Printable Paper
|
My latest additions to PrintablePaper.net bring the number of free papers at the site to 1,078. And it's all over the map: everything from 3D paper to checklists to music staff paper. The new 3D paper
kind of blows my mind. The lines just pop off the page when viewed through 3D glasses. I didn't even know if it was possible to create this effect in a printable version, but it came out great! Kids as well as grown-up artists can have a blast drawing designs on the grid and observing the 3-dimensional results. Like I mentioned earlier, you'll need anaglyph red-cyan 3D glasses (the old-fashioned kind usually found in paper form; not the plastic ones you get a movies nowadays). The 3D paper is in PDF format and comes in three versions: small, medium, and large offset, in two grid sizes, for a total of six styles.I've also added detailed annual checklists that can be used to track anything from bill-paying to personal goals. There's a checkbox for each day of the month, each month of the year, and it all fits on one page. This paper
is perfect, for example, if you want to use the "don't break the chain" technique to motivate yourself to dedicate time each day to exercise, writing, or any other worthy pursuit. Or, use it in reverse, marking a box each day you don't indulge in a bad habit. There are also two versions of a perpetual calendar: the entire year on a single page, and a multi-page download with two months per page so there's more room to write. I've added new music paper
with both staffs and four-line tablature. Plus, there's a new variation of lined notebook paper that is wide-ruled but has dashed center lines so it can function as penmanship paper for grade school children. And, after repeated requests from users, I've added to the popular score sheets category with a Clue Jr. score sheet.Like almost everything at PrintablePaper.net, the new papers are free to download and print.
Many of this weeks' new additions came thanks to suggestions from FreePrintable.net users. Please let me know what you'd like to see next. Thanks and happy printing!
