Happy new year! This is a rare Wednesday edition of the newsletter, because yesterday was a sort-of-holiday around the world and some of us (I'm not naming names here) may have been recovering from New Year's Eve festivities so I thought the usual Tuesday newsletter should wait a day. So here we are, with the first newsletter of a year that promises wonderful things, and lots of new printables.
I don't make new year's resolutions. I don't think they help most of the people who do make them. It's a philosophical thing: I prefer to think about how to improve myself, my family, and the world every day rather than once a year. And new year's resolutions tend to lend themselves to huge, ambitious goals that are near impossible to succeed with. On the other hand, a daily resolution, or a weekly goal, or a plan for a month -- to me, those create more concrete, attainable goals, and frankly I'm more motivated to complete a goal with a deadline of Friday, than one with a deadline that's 12 months away.
I love the idea of setting 30-day goals. If you haven't seen it yet, I encourage you to take three minutes to watch this video called "Try something new for 30 days."As Matt says in the TED Talk: The next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not. So why not think about something you have always wanted to try, and give it a shot?Which brings us to calendars and planners. My 2013 calendars site, aptly named Printable2013calendars.com
, is up and running, with lots of free calendars to choose from. Also, I've added five- and 10-year journals to PrintablePlanners.net with a Jan. 1, 2013 start date so you can start on this fun way or recording your memories and activities now. Happy New Year! | |

2013 Calendars
|
A new year means new calendars, and I have more designs than ever at my latest year-based calendar site, Printable2013calendars.com. With more than 40 designs, there's something for everyone: home, business, school, and even hobbies. And everything at the site is absolutely free to download and print. There are traditional monthly calendars as well as a convenient download of the entire year
at one time. Variations with the entire year on one page run either horizontally or vertically, and there are versions with holidays indicated in red as well as a calendar that starts on Monday and a 2013-14 academic calendar. The wallet calendar
can be cut out and carried along for easy, compact reference. Conversely, there's also a large print calendar with huge, bold dates that can be seen from across a room. This year also welcomes some new designs, such as a bookmark-sized calendar, a design that can be cut out and taped to a computer monitor, three months on one page, and a vertical list calendar. There are also several weekly calendars
that cover the year in 52 pages, ideal for using as a planner. All of the calendars can be downloaded instantly as PDFs, or opt for the also-free DOC versions if you'd like to type appointments, birthdays, and so on directly onto the calendar in Microsoft Word before printing.

Journals and Planners
|
I can't tell you how much I enjoy the five- and 10-year journal format. It's so easy to just jot down a few lines about your day (business, personal, family, whatever) and then, months or years later, you can look back and see what was going on in your life on that day. (Each page has a date, such as Jan. 1, and then spaces to write about the events of Jan. 1 each year.)I recently added a 10-year journal with a Jan. 1, 2013 start date as well as a five-year journal
to PrintablePlanners.net, so now is a great time to begin keeping a diary in this format. All of the journals are free to download and print.PrintablePlanners.net also has lots of traditional printable planners
sized to fix various styles of day planners, so there's no need to hunt down refills in stores; just print and punch through the provided holes to insert them in your planner. There are also special planner-sized lists such as photo lists, to do lists, blank lined pages, graph paper inserts, Cornell note pages, and more. Everything is free to print individually; if you'd like the time-saving convenience of downloading an entire planner at once, that option is $9 per size. Thanks again to all of you who sent in your ideas for new printables in 2012. I plan on adding lots more in 2013 and look forward to your feedback. Happy New Year, and, as always, happy printing!
