Nothing But the Tooth
The Tooth Fairy has visited my house twice in the past few days. My little one, CQ, has lost two of her front teeth. She has a special little Tooth Fairy pillow on which she can put her tooth before bed. She carefully put her first tooth under the pillow. When she woke up the next morning she found her gift. She told me, flatly, "The Tooth Fairy left me a dollar," like she was a little disappointed at what her tooth was worth. I guess I'm out of touch with the going price for used teeth. When I was a kid, my Tooth Fairy left 50 cents.

So when the second tooth came out, CQ left her tooth with a note: "Dear Tooth Fairy, instead of leaving money or something, would you please turn me into a fairy too, with wings and a wand?" CQ felt sure the Tooth Fairy could make her part of the fairy club. She went to bed ... and woke me up, crying, at three in the morning. She was crying because the Tooth Fairy had come, but hadn't turned her into a fairy.

Such are the joys of parenting.

As life is giving me more ideas for ToothFairyLetter.net, I have succeeded in adding new printables to other sites this week. There are new holiday banners at PrintableBanners.net, including messages for Christmas, Kwanzaa, and a Joyeux Noel. I've added 30 new recipe cards to FreePrintableRecipeCards.net, along with 25 new papers dolls at PrintablePaperDolls.net and 30 new dot-to-dot puzzles at DotToDots.net.

Printable Recipe Cards
I've added 30 new recipe cards to FreePrintableRecipeCards.net, featuring fruits, beverages, cupcakes, cocktails, and even baby food. There's an Asian dishes recipe card and a card for campfire foods, as well as less-specific cards that will look good in (or out of) any recipe box.

With these latest additions , there are now 217 cards at FreePrintableRecipeCards.net, which, dating back to 2006, is one of my oldest printables sites. Over the years it's had everything from basic blank recipe cards to monogrammed recipe cards.

The recipe cards also make for a great last-minute Christmas gift idea. I've heard from people who find these recipe cards especially fun and useful during the holiday season, whether for sharing a favorite recipe at a potluck or cookie exchange or attaching a card to a plate of treats given as a gift. You can even print out a couple of dozen and present them tied with ribbon (stocking stuffer?) or in a recipe box. Also, my site, PrintableLabels.net, has canning labels that are perfect for gifts in a jar.

There are several options for downloading these printable recipe cards. There's always a free version, either lined or blank, 3-by-5-inch or 4-by-6. (By popular demand, I recently added a selection of 8-by-10 recipe cards.) The free version is a PDF to print out and write on in pen or pencil. If you'd like the ability to type directly onto the card before printing, consider the premium .DOC version that can be edited in Microsoft Word. It's $7 per design, and you can save, edit, and print as many times as you'd like.
Paper Dolls & Dot to Dots
Looking for ways to keep kids busy during winter break? There are 25 new paper dolls at PrintablePaperDolls.net and 30 new dot-to-dot puzzles at DotToDots.net, all free to instantly download and print.

The new dolls at PrintablePaperDolls.net include those in new Fairytale and Celebrity categories. There are cool, new, celebrity-inspired designs of various cultures and styles such as a "rebel," the "Terminator," and "Norma." These are fun for kids and adult paper doll collectors alike.

The Fairytale category builds on the popular fairy and princess categories (though there are several boy and career dolls among the 145 doll, clothes, and hairstyle designs at the site.) The fairytale dolls come in both full-color and colorable variations. There are mermaids, Cinderella, Rapunzel (complete with long hair), Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, and more.

Just print on plain paper, or, for added sturdiness, cardstock. Kids can cut out the dolls and tabbed clothes for hours of creative play.

At DotToDots.net, the 30 new puzzles range from simple (just a few numbers) to complex, and are great for helping young people practice their numbers and ABCs while watching an image take shape.

The new dot-to-dots include: flowers, a fox, a horse, a cockroach, a spaceship, a wizard, a dragon, cats, a butterfly, broccoli, birds, bats, and even a high-heel shoe.

DotToDots.net, a sister site to FreePrintableColoringPages.net, is now up to 475 connect-the-dots puzzles. They're all free to download and print individually, and the entire collection is available as one convenient download for $9.

Thanks again to all of you who have sent in ideas for new printables. As you can see, that's a major source of this week's new additions. Also, thanks so much to those of you who have purchased or spread the word about my tech memoir, Terrible Nerd. Happy printing!
