Kevin's FreePrintable.net news
Name Game
December is shaping up to be a busy-yet-fun month in the Savetz household. I've had a few speaking engagements regarding my tech memoir, Terrible Nerd. I'm planning a little travel time with my family so have been busy packing, getting the house (and pet) sitter lined up, and all that good stuff. I am loving the look of winter in Portland and capturing icicles and raindrops on my cell phone using the Instagram app.

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday season and looking forward to 2013. I wanted to let you know about a bunch of new free printable flash cards and word search puzzles at PrintableFlashCards.net and FreeWordSearch.net, respectively, as well as a selection of badges at FreeNameTags.net.

Also, I've added New Year's themed writing prompts to FreeWritingPrompts.net , with sample prompts for students at elementary, middle school, high school, and college levels.
Flash Cards & Word Searches
There have been thousands of flash cards created via PrintableFlashCards.net since I launched the site last year. I've just added nearly a dozen user-created card sets to the site so everyone can enjoy them. There are now 158 cards on the site, all ready to instantly download and print for free.

The new cards include such diverse topics as Roman Gods and the Periodic Table. Or, quiz yourself on Major World Belief Systems, Physical and Mental Disorders, and the Cardiovascular System.

In the Language category, there are now cards for Telling Time in Spanish, the Months, Seasons, and Days in Spanish, and Pronouncing Spanish Letters and Numbers. For math practice, there are cards for memorizing the Multiples of Four as well as the Multiples of Eight. There are several other categories at PrintableFlashCards.net, from Early Childhood Education to Science to Music.

I hope you find something you need at PrintableFlashCards.net. If not, simply use the Flash Card Maker to create your own. You can print either four or six cards per page, and they generate instantly for free. Just download and print on regular printer paper or cardstock.

I also have new printables at FreeWordSearch.net, a site where you can create puzzles as study aids or just for fun. There are 882 puzzles to download and print, including more than 50 new additions. Or, make your own with the free Word Search Maker.

The newly added word searches really run the gamut. Some are related to schoolwork and professional development such as: Algebra 2, Federalism, Earth Science, Rock Cycle, Solar Energy, and various works of literature.

The word searches that are just for fun include: Owls, Christmas, Kids' TV Show Characters, Penguins, and Bowling (but, sadly, no bowling penguins). There are also new word searches on: Boxers Past and Present, Feelings, Secondhand Smoke, Taming of the Shrew, Orthodontics Word Search, Greetings and Farewells, The Digestive System, Mesopotamia, Amelia Earhart, Ancient Israelites, Winter Holidays, Environmental Stewardship, Flower Power, Biomass, Daniel Defoe, Holiday Cheer, and dozens of other themes.

When making your own search, you can choose the difficulty level, adding backward words, diagonals, and even misspellings. Also, select from four sizes, from tiny to large.
Name Tags & Badges
Whether your name is Jane Doe or Slim Shady, I'm sure you found yourself in need of a name tag at business or social events. My site, FreeNameTags.net, has more than 70 name tags to download and print for free. You can download them in PDF form and write on them, or opt for a DOC version you can type into in Microsoft Word. You can even print directly onto Avery brand labels.

This week, I added a new category to the site. It features printable badges for kids as well as some new Visitor badges with room to write (or type) in a name, date, and purpose of visit.

The FreeNameTags.net badges include both assortments and full pages of badges for EMT, trash patrol, firefighter, sheriff, private detective, and special police. There is also a cool sheriff's star. The kids' badges aren't sized for Avery labels, but everything else on the site will print on Avery #5395 labels or other 2.33-by-3.38-inch labels stock. Or, just use plain paper and cut them apart.

Other categories at the site include: Employee Name Tags, School Name Tags, and Party Name Tags. No more embarrassing "who are you again?" questions!

It's been a great year of printables, but it's not over yet. As we head into 2013, I'd love to hear your ideas for new forms, templates, and fun printables. Drop me an email, and happy printing!
