"Guten morgen" from the Black Forest of southwestern Germany.This week I'm volunteering for a program that helps Germans who are learning English. I'm here with 14 Germans and 14 native English speakers, and we spend most of our time just talking in English, having conversations on myriad topics to help them boost their conversational English skills. (Longtime readers may remember that I did a program like this in Spain a couple of summers ago.) I'm getting to know interesting people from all corners of the globe (besides the Germans, there are people here from the UK, Australia, Scotland, and so on.) It's an unusual vacation, I know, but it's rewarding and a lot of fun.

There are several new essay and creative writing prompts for elementary, middle school, high school, and college students. These printables comprise my version of a "sub tub," a collection of forms classroom teachers can keep on hand for letting their substitutes know important details about the classroom, lessons, students, and routine.There are dividing pages to create a binder for substitute teachers as well as forms for: outlining: classroom procedures, rules, homework, lesson plans (for various subjects), school contact numbers, activity ideas, a student list, transportation information, and more.Other new teachers printables include: a note to school from a parent, a school bus change form, and slips letting parents know homework was not turned in.

New Printable Signs

You probably already know PrintableSigns.net for its 3,500-plus signs for businesses, property, general information, and more. There's everything from danger signs to parking signs to recycling signs. Now, I've added 42 new signs in two newly created categories: Library Signs and Fundraiser and Raffle Signs.The new printable signs
are great for schools, nonprofits, and clubs. There are full-color illustrated signs for announcing bingo games, car washes, raffles, and spaghetti and crab feeds. For libraries, there are signs for each class (number) range in the Dewey Decimal system as well as illustrated signs indicating various sections in the library (children's, help desk, reference, magazines, etc.) There's no need to create your own sign from scratch - just print one from PrintableSigns.net.
Each sign is available in either free PDF or premium DOC format. The free version is $1.99 and, once downloaded, the sign can be edited in Microsoft Word.
