Koninginnenacht and Oranjegekte
Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

Guess where I am? Wait, don't do that; I'll just tell you. My wife and I are in Amsterdam for a few days. We're celebrating her birthday and enjoying a little vacation that's just us -- the kids are home with Grandpa. In addition to being my wife's b-day, yesterday was Koninginnedag, or Queen's Day, here. Koninginnedag (which is just a fun word to say) is a national holiday in celebration of the Netherlands' Queen Beatrix. The day is a big party, with outdoor festivals, music, and people relaxing at parks and pubs. Everyone wears orange for Queen's Day -- I loved seeing peoples' crazy costumes with orange wigs, orange pants, orange tights, orange feather boas... It was a sea of orange. Things were a little more sedate inside at the Vincent Van Gogh museum, where we took in hundreds of paintings by one of my favorite artists. You can see some pictures at the FreePrintable.net blog.

This week, I'm unveiling a new site! It's www.ExampleToasts.com, with 50 sample toasts for all kinds of occasions. Plus, there are 20 new cards at www.BirthdayCardsPrintable.com. Party on!

» Example Toasts
If you've ever been called upon to present a toast at a wedding, milestone birthday party, or other special event, you know it's not as easy as raising an arm and shouting, "To evil!" like in the Austin Powers movies. Toasts take finesse, and should be personal to the occasion, but they also follow a traditional structure. The dozens of samples at ExampleToasts.com will give you a jump-start. Or, feel free to use them as-is. I won't tell anyone.

There are plenty of examples of toasts for weddings: from the best man or maid of honor, a funny toast, a toast especially for a second marriage, a toast for a parent's wedding, and more. ExampleToasts.com also has toasts for baby blessings and baptisms as well as milestones such as: anniversaries, graduations, retirements, celebrating a new home, sweet sixteen parties and quinceaneras. There are even toasts to offer at wakes and funerals. Some of the toasts are short, while others are more detailed. There are solemn toasts as well as funny toasts. Some toasts are best for close friends; others are appropriate for business settings.

The site also has helpful articles on how to write a toast, common toasts for weddings, and the do's and don'ts of toasting.

All of the toasts are absolutely free! You can download and print a toast, nicely formatted for Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or another DOC-compatible word processing program. Or just cut and paste the toast directly from your web browser.

Printable Birthday Cards

I've just added 20 new cards to BirthdayCardsPrintable.com, and now there are a total of 70 cute and cool cards on the site. There are cards for kids, cards with cocktails, (those ones aren't for kids) cards with fun animal designs, floral cards, and more. They're all full color, with festival birthday messages.

These pretty cards are great anytime, but perfect for last-minute card needs, such as when you're on the way to a party and realize you forgot a card. Or, how about those times when you realize you need to get a card in the mail and don't have time to run to the store?

The new birthday card designs include brightly colored images of balloons, party hats, cute monsters, teddy bears, pandas, horses, dinosaurs, dogs, dirt bikes, a beach sunset, a martini, lilies, roses, outer space, and rockets.

The cards are easy to download and print. Each is available in two sizes: a large version that is a full sheet of paper you fold in half; and a small version that's folded in quarters to make a 4.25 by 5.5 inch card. You can download any card you'd like for free as a PDF. If you'd like the ability to edit the card, adding personal messages, names, and so on, opt for the $3 premium version with is a .DOC file you can customize in Microsoft Word or another compatible program.

Thanks so much for sending me your ideas! I have more new printables sites on the way, so please stay tuned. Happy printing!
