FreePrintable.net news

March 6, 2012
Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

The Tooth Fairy that comes to our house is terribly out of practice - our older daughter is a teenager, and our younger daughter just turned 5. Fortunately, she doesn't have any wiggly teeth yet. In the meantime, I'm especially appreciative of the users of my site, ToothFairyLetter.net, for the ideas that led to most of the new letters I recently added. Plus, the site now has poems about the Tooth Fairy. Also, I'm so pleased with how FreeWordSearch.net has grown thanks to all of the puzzles you have made and shared. I'm listing a bunch of the new puzzle topics in this newsletter. Enjoy!

» New Tooth Fairy Letters
Helping out the Tooth Fairy can be fun for parents - at least for the first few teeth. Then it's a mad midnight scramble for dimes, quarters, or whatever inflation-driven denomination rules the pillow at your house. It's even tougher when you're dealing with a difficult tooth-related situation (say, a swallowed tooth, or, even worse, the Tooth Fairy forgetting to come). With all this in mind I've added five new letters from the Tooth Fairy to ToothFairyLetter.net, as well as a new category: Tooth Fairy poems.

The new letters include notes for children who lost a tooth a school, kids who are scared at the thought (or maybe the pain) of losing a tooth, and a letter answering the age-old question of what the Tooth Fairy does with all those teeth. And nothing can match the gap-toothed cuteness of the first front tooth lost, so there's a letter specifically for that occasion. There's also a humorous letter for an older child who no longer believes, a confession of sorts, stating she's out of cash and the tooth-loser will need to fend for him or herself from now on. There are now 30 letters on the site, plus coloring pages, tips for parents, and ideas for starting family traditions for lost teeth.

The poems are original and exclusive to ToothFairyLetter.net. There are poems for both boys and girls as well as a funny poem - four poems in all. Like the letters, they're on ToothFairyLetter.net's custom stationery.

All of the Tooth Fairy letters, which are already "signed" by the Tooth Fairy, can be downloaded and printed for free in PDF form. Just write the child's name in with a pen after printing the letter of your choice. If you would like to type a name in and otherwise customize the letter (adding the names of siblings, pets, or other personal details), opt for the $5 editable DOC version you can type into in Microsoft Word.

» New Word Search Puzzles

When I launched FreeWordSearch.net last July, I expected it would be popular with children, teachers, and parents. But I never imagined that so many people of all ages would find it not only a fun diversion, but a useful study aid. Users have already shared hundreds of puzzles on the site, of all kinds of categories. They're great for holiday activities or anytime.

Here are just a few of the dozens of word searches that have been added in recent weeks: gardening, space race, Chinese Zodiac, famous chemists, Bahamas, shapes, American landmarks, Boy Scouts, log cabin life, algebra, Animal Farm, bowling, Brahms, dental vocabulary, fashion labels, geocaching, Greek mythology, Harry Potter characters, ham radio, Johnny Appleseed, house types, marching band, mental health, Microsoft Word, parts of the ear, pies, prepositions, recycling, rodents, The Gambler, types of bears, words that start with S, and woodworking. Download and print any puzzles you would like, free!

It's easy to make your own puzzle using the free word search creator at FreeWordSearch.net. You can choose the puzzle size as well as difficulty level (add backward words, diagonals, and other variations).

As promised, I've been adding lots and lots of new printables to the FreePrintable.net sites. I also have new sites in the works that I hope you'll like. Please send me your thoughts on what you'd like to see next. Happy printing!

Nina H., who has been an avid genealogy enthusiast for 30 years, sent me this nice note about how FamilyTreeTemplates.net has helped her out: "I home school my grandchildren, under a state program which dictates their curriculum. Today the teacher over us who gives them their assignments required them to do a family tree. I was so excited and amazed when I located your site with the free templates for the children to use and even passed it on to my siblings for their grandchildren. My point is, I am much appreciative that you would offer such a wonderful site for free to families that care about their heritage." Thanks so much, Nina! Glad to help.
