» Free Writing Prompts
|
I'm excited about my latest FreePrintable.net site, www.FreeWritingPrompts.net. It's designed for teachers, homeschooling parents, or for students who'd like a little mental boost with their creative writing and essays. It's sort of a companion to TeachersPrintables.net (with nearly 250 classroom printables), PrintablePaper.net, and PrintableFlashCards.net.
The prompts at FreeWritingPrompts.net - all of which can be downloaded and printed for free - give just enough direction to get someone started on a writing assignment. For example, here's a scene to get elementary-age students' creativity going: "Write a story where you go to the zoo and all the animals escape from their cages. What happens next? Where do the different animals like to go, and what do they like to do?" There are prompts for all ages, for fiction writing, history, literature, and more. The essay-writing prompts include: descriptive, expository, how-to, narrative, and persuasive. There are even holiday-themed writing prompts.
All of the prompts are organized by level, such as elementary, middle school, high school, and college. The prompts can be simply copied and pasted from website, or the free download in either PDF or DOC (for Microsoft Word and other DOC-compatible programs) provides a neatly formatted sheet for teachers to print, refer to, and file away for future teaching units. There are several prompts on each page.

» New Tournament Brackets
|
|
Since its launch in 2008, PrintableTournamentBrackets.net has offered a wide selection of brackets for various competitive sports, as well as professional game-based betting grid designs for office pools and other friendly wagering. The site has expanded again, with a new category for round robin groupings. Other new additions include more variations of betting grids, for baseball, basketball, hockey, and other sports' finals.
The round robin groupings are something site users have been requesting for quite some time. There are sheets for various sizes of teams (four to nine members). Each has space to list players as well as total wins, losses, and rank. Then, there are boxes in which to track scores as the rounds progress. Like the tournament brackets, these round robin groupings are ideal for local league play.
PrintableTournamentBrackets.net also has a selection of betting grids, including for the Super Bowl, March Madness basketball, and even The Masters and The French Open. These are fun for office pools - the "commissioner" can circulate 25-, 50-, or 100-square grids on which participants can write (or keyboard) their names and place their bets. (Check your state or local laws regarding wagering.)
Everything on the site is free and available in either PDF or DOC form. The DOC versions can be typed into before printing, so it's easy to pre-fill teams' names and other information.
Thanks again for all your emails and suggestions for new printables and new sites. I have several sites in the works that will be unveiled in the coming months. I hope you'll like them. Happy printing!

Excellent! The FreePrintable.net Facebook page has surpassed the 4,000-fan mark. Thanks so much to all of you who have "Friended" me there and especially those who have commented on the Wall and posts. This week, Muriel H. posted on the Wall: "This is a great and useful site for me. I love the printables and the fact that I can make a word search puzzle whenever I need one." |
