Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

When she was a little younger, my daughter's favorite books were the Ramona Quimby series. They're books about the adventures of a precocious little girl. In one of the stories, Ramona wants to have a party, but it's not her birthday or any other holiday, and she knows there's no way that her mom will let her have a party for no reason. So she just invites all her friends over for a party one Saturday -- without telling her parents first. Her parents, suddenly confronted with a houseful of excited kids, could hardly say no at that point.

This is what I was thinking about while I was putting the final touches on the new invitations for PrintInvitations.net, and my new printable birthday cards site, BirthdayCardsPrintable.com. I mean, maybe Ramona is right -- why should you need a reason to have a party? Being with friends and having a celebration shouldn't require a reason, right?

This might be a little silly, but I feel a special connection to those books because -- besides having read all of them to my daughter a dozen times -- they take place in Portland. In fact, not too far from my house is Klickitat Street, the real-life street where the fictional Ramona lived. And now CQ, my younger daughter, is about old enough to start enjoying those books. I bet I'll be reading them another dozen times before too long.

» Printable Birthday Cards
For a long time, I've wanted to put together a website especially for birthday cards. I finally got my wish this week when I launched www.BirthdayCardsPrintable.com. The site makes it convenient to print attractive, professional-quality cards without having to run to the store (especially handy when you're about to head to a party and realize you forgot to buy a card).

The site has 50 full-color cards to download and print. There are festive frogs, balloon-toting turtles, and other party-loving animals. Other cards feature themes such as bowling, beach, music, cupcakes, monsters, and more. There are cards for adults (featuring cocktails, for example) as well as children. You won't find these cards anywhere else on the web.

Each card comes in your choice of two sizes: large, in which you fold the 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet in half, and small, in which you fold the sheet in quarters to make a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch card. The cards are all free to print as PDFs, or pay just $3 for a DOC version you can edit in Microsoft Word, adding personal messages and so on.

There are still hundreds of cards for birthdays, holidays, parties, and more at my other sites: www.FreePrintableGreetingCards.net and www.FreePrintableGreetingCards.org. There, the cards are free as PDFs and just a few dollars for customizable DOC versions.

» Printable Invitations

Planning a holiday party? I've just added new Christmas, Hanukkah, and winter invitations to www.PrintInvitations.net, and they're perfect for the host with the most.

The invitations are all full-color and several are available in both small and large sizes. There's a blue-and-gold Hanukkah invitation with menorah and dreidel designs, as well as various winter themes (penguins and kids). Several Christmas invitations are illustrated with Christmas trees, Santa Claus, elves, reindeer, and nutcrackers. They're all fun and festive.

There are now 279 invitations at PrintInvitations.net, for all kinds of events from New Year's to baby showers. The invitations are free as PDFs, or, for $6 per design, choose a DOC version that you can open and edit in Microsoft Word, typing in contact information and other party details.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions and feedback! I have more new printables coming for the holidays and beyond. Happy printing!

James C. wrote to tell me he found just what he needed at PrintablePaper.net. "Several office supply stores here in suburban Chicago did not have ledger 11 x 17 inch, multi-column paper. A search with Google led me to your web site. I am very grateful to your firm for making a variety of templates for numerous paper forms available to users."
