FreePrintable.net news

April 12, 2011
Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

Last week I was telling you about my family vacation; more recently, I was on a business trip in Austin, Texas, somewhere I've always wanted to explore. It was fun -- I toured the state capitol building and also visited the French Legation Museum, the oldest building in Texas. Other than some rude fellow reclining his airport seat against my long legs in an already-cramped space, it was a great trip. As I promised you in last week's newsletter, I have another new website for small business owners - and it's something that will also be of use for nonprofits, home businesses, and others: free press release templates. As if that wasn't enough, the new FreePrintable.net blog is now ready for prime time. Keep reading...

» Press Release Templates
Whether you're a small business owner, running a nonprofit, spearheading a school fund-raising drive or otherwise have news to share, a press release is the time-honored way to get your information out to the media and, ultimately, the general public or your specific target audience.

Having graduated from journalism school, I know that there's a pretty standard format to press releases: it's what reporters and editors expect to see, and it shows the media that you know what you're doing. A professionally formatted press release makes journalists take you seriously, and makes it more likely that your news will be covered or the information about your event will run in the newspaper, on television, the radio, websites, etc.

In the spirit of making it as easy as possible to get the media interested in your business, I've launched a new website, www.PressReleaseTemplates.net, with a dozen basic press releases, all formatted and ready for you to download, customize with your own information, and send them off to relevant news outlets.

When you're just starting out, you don't have the budget to hire an expensive PR firm to create your press releases. With these templates, simply fill in the blanks and follow the "prompts" included on these sample press release for events, product announcements, website launches, and other goings-on.

Now, just sending out a press release doesn't guarantee that your business or event will receive coverage - but it certainly makes it much more likely. Be sure to read the articles at PressReleaseTemplates.net for tips on what to include in a press release, including making sure that you have a compelling "news hook." Some blogs and small-town newspapers may even run your press release "as is," like a regular feature story!

The templates are free to download individually in DOC format (for Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.). Or, get the whole press release collection (plus a few extras) at once in one convenient download for $19.

Have you heard about this new thing called "blogging"? Just kidding! I was toying with blogs way back in the 1990s, before they even called them blogs. But now I've decided to get serious about a blog for FreePrintable.net. The FreePrintable.net blog features a mix of new printables announcements, how-tos, seasonal printables highlights, and other fun and helpful stuff. I'll sometimes write about things you've already heard in the newsletter, but I'll also use the blog for brief announcements of new printables and tidbits of info that don't make it into the newsletter. (If it's big news, though, you newsletter subscribers will always hear it first!)

There are several posts up already. Please take a look and let me know what you think! Is there anything in particular you'd like to see me blogging about? Would you like to hear more about my crazy cats, or my nerdy hobbies? I'll even reply to user emails on the blog from time to time. Please bookmark the FreePrintable.net blog or add it to your RSS feed.

Thanks so much for all of your thanks, suggestions, and ideas. I'm working on bringing more printables to you soon. Happy printing!

Kevin

I was pleased to get this kind note from Samantha A. recently: "Kevin, your site is great. Thank you! I've used it many times, and when I have had trouble your service has been impeccable and quick, too. You have many useful things, especially the business forms."
