FreePrintable.net news

Oct. 19, 2010
Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

Not to scare you, but it's almost Halloween! I'll have a huge roundup of my favorite Halloween printables in next week's newsletter, but I didn't want to wait to let you know about the cute-and-creepy new Halloween cards I've added to FreePrintableGreetingCards.net. Also, I've launched another new site! It's very specific, and not exactly about printing but rather cutting. Intrigued? Keep reading to learn more about my new site, CutFiles.net, with fun SVG files for paper crafters. Now I just need to decide on a Halloween costume. Perhaps Tron? A printer? Tux, the Linux penguin? I'm more of a Luigi than a Mario. Hmmm...

» New Halloween Cards
I've just expanded the selection of Halloween cards and invitations at FreePrintableGreetingCards.net and PrintInvitations.net, just in time for you to print and mail (or hand them out) to friends, family, classmates, and more. The new cards feature a variety of cute monsters, including one that looks a lot like Frankenstein's monster. There are also spiders, scarecrows, bats, children, jack-o-lanterns, and candy corn - more than 20 card variations and nine invitations, reading "Happy Halloween" and "You're Invited," respectively.

The greeting cards are free to download and print in PDF form, or pay $4 for the premium .DOC version that you can edit (adding names, etc.) in Microsoft Word. The invitations, which have lines inside for writing in event information, are free as PDFs, or choose the $6 .DOC version and you can type in the details. Check out the new cards and invitations here, if you dare:

» Cut Files for Paper Crafters

My newest site is a departure from the printables sites you're used to, and intended especially for paper crafters such as scrapbookers and card makers. CutFiles.net has launched with more than 150 SVG (scalable vector graphics) files, all free to download and use in conjunction with a digital die cut machine, specifically the Cricut by Provo Craft.

You might not know what a digital die cut machine is. Instead of printing on paper, it cuts paper into the shapes that you choose.

So far, categories include: birthday, wedding, pirates, toys, butterflies (so pretty!), flowers, animals, holidays, and a bunch more. The files can be imported and manipulated using third-party software such as Sure Cuts a Lot or Make the Cut (links are conveniently located on the site) before being cut onto cardstock and/or paper by connecting a computer to a Cricut machine with a regular printer cord. Once assembled with crafters' glue, the designs can be used as-is, in scrapbooks or on cards, on school bulletin boards, as party supplies, or however you'd like. Or, you can creatively embellish them with ink, glitter glue, and other paper crafting supplies. You can even use the SVGs for school projects, cake decorating, and vinyl clings.

On the site, there is already a place to sign up for a special CutFiles.net newsletter I have planned that will include project ideas, tips, and other fun stuff. Please take a look at the cut files:

Thanks so much for all your great ideas for new printables. I have many new additions on the way, including new sites. And you know I'll be adding cool stuff for the winter holidays. Happy printing!

Kevin

Thanks to all of you who have ordered one (or more) of the various FreePrintable.net CD collections. They're an easy, affordable way to access the printables you need from the convenience of your computer's hard drive. Sarah A. recently wrote, "Kevin, I want to thank you for the wonderful CD collection I got in the mail. It arrived right away, and the quality is great Thank you! I like it very much." Thank you, Sarah! There are CD collections available for certificates, printable paper, stationery and letterhead, and invoices.
