FreePrintable.net news

Sept. 21, 2010
Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

I had a great weekend at the Retro Gaming Expo here in Portland. The good news is, I finally scored that rare Star Wars game for Atari 5200 that I've wanted since I was a kid. The bad news is, I didn't get any new printables ready for you. But it's nose to the grindstone this week, and next week's newsletter will be worth waiting for: a big announcement, and a contest! This week, I'm doing a roundup of printables that can be of help to job-seekers. Also, fall starts tomorrow, and I've got a list of my favorite fall printables from the FreePrintable.net sites. I'm looking forward to my first autumn in beautiful Oregon. I know the leaves are going to be gorgeous, and I can't wait to see what the farmers' markets and our CSA (community-supported agriculture) baskets hold.

» Job-hunters' Printables
I'm sure you're tired of hearing about the recession, but if you're actually one of the people who have been affected by layoffs and cutbacks, you know how important it is to have as many tools as possible to get your career back where you want - and need - it to be. There are several printables sites and online resources in the FreePrintable.net family that can help you save time and money, whether you are currently unemployed or looking to switch jobs.

For example, you can pay someone a lot of money to design and format a resume for you, but in many cases, straight-forward is best, and we have dozens to choose from at InstantResumeTemplates.com. All of the resumes are free to download and print. Just open in Microsoft Word or another word processing program that reads DOCs and type over the placeholder text with your own information. Be sure to have a friend or colleague proofread your resume before you send it out! Here's the link:

Many industries require that a cover letter be submitted along with a resume, and it's important that yours be professional, creative, and well-written. The many examples at CoverLetterExamples.net are a great starting point. Just find a letter that suits your needs, download it in DOC form, and adjust it to match your personality and experience. There are letters for people who have been fired or laid off, people who are changing careers, new graduates, and so on.

And don't overlook other FreePrintable.net sites with printables that can be of use during your job search. There are sample thank you letters for job interviews, recommendation letters, and more. From business cards to letterhead to paper to fax cover sheets, you can make sure your job search is smart and frugal:

» Fall Printables

As you know, there are hundreds - maybe thousands - of seasonal printables at the FreePrintable.net sites, and fall, which starts on Sept. 22 this year, is no exception. It's a season that really lends itself to pretty images. Whether you're sending a fax or sharing a recipe, consider these autumn-themed designs with leaves, harvest scenes, acorns, pumpkins, and more:

Terra C. wrote to let me know how she uses free printables to keep her kids entertained in the car. I love her idea for care packages! "This summer my 2nd grader became a 3rd grader. I knew he needed more of a challenge, especially for some of the road trips we would be taking. I found so many resources from your site that I didn't need to buy anything special for these trips. I just put together "care packages" for my 5-year-old and (now) 8-year-old, with crayons, pencils, and activities from your site. Thank you so much for making all these resources available for us!"
