FreePrintable.net news

Sept. 7, 2010
Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

September's here! For many of us, that means back to school, fall weather, and all kinds of great things. My September is excellent so far, but October must be just around the corner, because my 13-year-old had me take her to Goodwill last week to put together a Halloween costume. (She's a creative girl who's not a fan of ready-made costumes). My latest discovery in my new town: a "fried pies" shop with savory and sweet pies. Nom nom nom. As far as printables work goes, I am back in the swing of things, and - thanks largely to your suggestions - have plenty of new printables in the works. My latest new addition is 123 new certificates at www.FreePrintableCertificates.net. Also, for those of the Jewish faith, I'm highlighting www.PrintableJewishCalendar.com for Rosh Hashanah, which starts this week.

» New Printable Certificates
I'm really psyched about this latest addition to FreePrintableCertificates.net, not only because of the great designs, but because it brings the total of certificates at the site to well over 1,000! I don't think I could have imagined that when I launched it back in 2005. The new, full-color designs cover a huge range of topics, some that I never would have imagined there would be such a demand for: food-related contests, class reunions, holiday decorating, bingo, geocaching, and even a Left Handers Club Member certificate. I've also added certificates to one of the most popular categories, Scouting. There are new sports certificates, pet show awards, long distance running certificates, and a bunch of cute certificates for little kids who have mastered their ABCs, can write their name, or were brave at the doctor. With these 123 new certificates, there are now more than 1,100 available at the site, all free to instantly download and print in PDF form, or you could opt to pay $5 per design for the premium DOC download that you can edit in Microsoft Word. Despite all these new additions, I haven't raised the price of the CD-ROM (for Mac or Windows PC) that includes all of the certificates in both PDF and editable DOC format as well as some bonus material. It's still just $69, though I'm thinking about raising that soon.

Remember, you always have the option of printing any certificate for free as a PDF. Just print it out and write the names, date, and other info in pen. But many people prefer the $5 DOC download so they can customize the certificate by typing right into it. Either way, the certificate downloads instantly. If you prefer the CD-ROM, it ships out right away First Class, so you won't be waiting long.

» Rosh Hashanah

Sundown this Sept. 8 marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, the first of the High Holidays for practicing Jews. It's also celebrated as the Jewish New Year, and thus is a time when many households put up new calendars. My site, PrintableJewishCalendar.com, has both traditional Hebrew and modern Gregorian calendars to download and print for free. There's also a custom calendar generator that lets users combine elements of both versions. You can create a calendar that has the Hebrew months (Cheshvan, Kislev, and so on) with the civil dates in smaller type, vice versa, and other variations. All of the calendars are free to download and print, and are in standard letter size (8 1/2 by 11 inches). They can be printed in either PDF or DOC form. The DOC versions are handy if you'd like to type in appointments, birthdays, and other information before printing.

And thanks again for all your kind wishes and advice on my move to Portland, Oregon. It's going great! My home office is set up just the way I like it, and I'm more productive than ever, so stay tuned for more new printables and sites. Please keep your ideas coming! Happy printing!

  » Kudos
During the last few weeks, I've been hearing from a lot of teachers, homeschooling parents, and students who are downloading free printables in anticipation of a new school year. I especially appreciated this nice email from Alicia B.: "Thanks, Kevin, for making all these coloring pages available and for the perfect price for struggling teachers and others who have been hit hard by the economy. You are appreciated."
