FreePrintable.net news

October 27, 2009
Hi from Kevin at FreePrintable.net, where a busy printer is a happy printer.

I think I've told you before that my wife is a fabulous home cook. Well, I need to brag on her a little more, because she is also excellent at making sure we don't waste any food and that our family eats healthfully all year 'round. Since we have a CSA (community-supported agriculture) membership, every week we get lots of fresh fruits and veggies - sometimes more than we can use. My wife decided to try her hand at canning so we can enjoy some of these delicious foods during the "off" season. We also hope to make a dent in the blackberries that have overtaken our back yard. Conveniently enough, there are now three dozen printable canning jar labels to choose from at PrintableLabels.net, in commonly available label sizes to fit jar lids and sides. Oh, and I know I just told you I have a family of healthy eaters, but that doesn't mean we won't be chomping on Halloween candy in a few days. If you still have Halloween preparations to do, be sure to check out my list of last-minute Halloween printables.

» Printable Canning Labels
Even before my wife decided to try home canning, I knew I wanted to add canning labels to PrintableLabels.net. I'm pleased with the 36 jar labels there are to choose from: everything from peaches, berries, and pickles to labels for popular "gift in a jar" presents such as layered hot cocoa mix or soup mix. There are also several full-color designs good for anytime, including pretty sunflowers. There are also labels for your holiday canning needs, with autumn and Christmas designs. Just type or write in the canning date and other details! Here are the jar labels:

For your convenience, all of the circle-shaped and rectangular labels were specially designed to fit Avery brand labels. (The lid labels fit Avery product #5294, while there are three Avery products suitable for the jar labels.) Just print them out, peel them off, and stick them on! They are available for instant download in PDF or .DOC (Microsoft Word) form and both versions are free to download and print.

» Halloween Printables

Are you ready for Halloween? There's still time to instantly download and print your choice of hundreds of Halloween printables from the FreePrintable.net sites. I especially want to remind you about the new Halloween recipe cards at FreePrintableRecipeCards.net and the new certificates for pumpkin-carving and costume contests at FreePrintableCertificates.net. There are also new banners and invitations, plus favorites such as coloring pages, stationery, gift tags, and greeting cards. Here are some links to the new printables, as well as to some of my favorite Halloween printables. Have a happy, haunted holiday!

  » Kudos
I love it when one of you tells me a new printables site came at just the right time! That's what happened with Julie, who was kind enough to write in about my new site offering free printable mazes. "Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just reviewed the mazes at www.PrintableMazes.net. As usual, they were right on time and perfect for us. My 5-year-old loved them! She actually sat through an entire meal since she was working on them. What a life saver. Keep up the great work. Thanks to you, we have a very happy printer and a happy child."

  » Avery-sized Printables
As I mentioned earlier, in this edition of the newsletter, the round and rectangular canning labels at PrintableLabels.net were specially designed to fit Avery brand labels. But did you know that several other FreePrintable.net have printables whose sizes match Avery's? It's especially handy to be able to go to the office supply store and get a pack of blank adhesive labels, or order them online, and have them on hand for your printing projects. Each FreePrintable.net site lists the product numbers of the Avery labels with which the printables or templates are compatible. For example, the address and mailing labels at PrintableLabels.net fit various self-adhesive Avery label paper (check the site for product numbers). Also, the business cards at FreePrintableBusinessCards.net fit Avery's perforated business card stock, the place cards at PrintablePlaceCards.net fit what Avery calls "small tent cards." The recipe cards at FreePrintableRecipeCards.net fit either index card templates (3x5) or postcard templates (4x6). By matching printables to Avery products, or similarly sized products from competing companies, you can make the printables even more convenient!
